Authorities in Albany, Oregon, have established a heavy police perimeter around City Hall and the adjacent Linn County Courthouse following reports of a high-risk situation involving a barricaded subject.
Preliminary accounts stated that an individual has confined themselves inside a vehicle, prompting law enforcement to mobilize specialized units and lock down both government buildings to ensure public safety.
Uniformed officers and emergency responders have cordoned off the surrounding streets, and officials are urgently advising pedestrians and motorists to bypass the downtown area until the scene is secured.
“Law enforcement … is warning people to avoid the area of 4th Ave. and Ellsworth and 4th and Lyon St.,” as reported by KATU2.
While the tactical operation remains active, specific details regarding the individual’s motives or the presence of weapons have not yet been disclosed by the Albany Police Department.
Additionally, details about the lockdown are not available as of the time of this writing.
