Trump chides Japan for not helping U.S. amid war against Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump has chided Japan and other allies for not supporting the United States in the war against Iran, even as Tokyo ramps up diplomatic moves to help end the conflict.
At a news conference Monday in Washington, Trump castigated Tokyo and Seoul for not helping — despite the allies hosting around 75,000 U.S. troops in total that help defend against nuclear-armed North Korea — while disparaging the NATO alliance as a “paper tiger.”
Although Trump appeared to focus on NATO countries in his diatribe, he also zeroed in on the two Asian allies and Australia.
