Japan Government Discusses AI Strategy

TOKYO, Sep 12 (News On Japan) - The government convened the first meeting of the AI Strategy Headquarters, the new control tower for artificial-intelligence policy, to discuss the outline of a basic plan that would strengthen AI research, development, and utilization. Officials said the plan will be finalized within the year.
Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Japan aims to become "the easiest country in the world to develop and utilize AI," directing the team to draw up the plan in line with four basic principles that include "using," "creating," and "enhancing trustworthiness." Ishiba instructed Minister Kiuchi, who oversees AI strategy, and other relevant ministers to coordinate measures across ministries so the plan leads to practical deployment in both the public and private sectors.
