Man accused of attacking 2 women with hammer in Edogawa
TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old man over the alleged assault of two women at their residence in Edogawa Ward last month, reports Kyodo News (Aug. 3).
At around 5:35 p.m. on July 30, Keito Degura allegedly broke into the residence of the two women, aged in their 50s and 70s, and used a hammer to repeatedly bash each of them over the head and other parts of their bodies.
The women suffered serious injuries, including skull fractures, police said.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder and trespassing, Degura denied the allegations. “I have no recollection of doing anything at all,” he said.

When Degura arrived at the scene, he mentioned the name of a woman in her 20s who lived in the house and attended the same elementary and middle schools that he did.
After the incident, Dekura, who lives about 300 meters from the home, fled the scene. However, police used security camera footage and other means to locate him.
When police searched his residence, they found a note hinting at suicide. Police are now investigating the possibility that he may have committed the crime out of desperation.
