Sangli Shocker: Woman Hacks Husband To Death With Axe Just 15 Days After Marriage

Even as the nation reels from the brutal murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, a fresh case of marital violence has emerged, this time from Maharashtra’s Sangli district, where a 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her husband with an axe just 15 days after their wedding.
The woman, identified as Radhika, allegedly attacked her 53-year-old husband, Anil Lokhande, around 12:30 am on Wednesday at their home in Kupwad tehsil, after he insisted on consummating the marriage, police said.

Deepak Bandwalkar, Inspector at MIDC Police Station in Sangli, confirmed the incident. “In a dispute between husband and wife, the wife killed her husband with an axe while he was still in bed. We have arrested the accused woman, Radhika Lokhande, on charges of murdering her husband, Anil Lokhande. The investigation is ongoing. Only after the probe will we understand the true motive behind the murder," he said.
The woman has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with further investigation underway. Lokhande was previously married; his first wife had died of cancer.
This comes amid continuing developments in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, in which police allege his wife Sonam conspired with her lover and hired men to kill him during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The couple had married in Indore just four days before the trip. Police believe Sonam plotted the murder in advance, and five people, including her, have been arrested so far.
