According to police sources, Kamra is in contact with the police through his lawyer.
This comes after the police rejected Kamra’s request for additional time to appear before them. His lawyer had reportedly requested the cops an extension of a week, however, the request was denied and the fresh summons were issued.
Kamra, during a show at Mumbai’s Habitat studio, mocked Shinde over his 2022 rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray which led to the fall of the MVA government in the state, and sang a parody of ‘Bholi Si Surat’ song from Hindi film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’.
“Meri nazar se tum dekho to gaddar nazar wo aaye. Haaye!" he had sung, modifying the song lyrics to make fun of Shinde.
Outraged over the remarks, the Shiv Sena workers arrived at the studio and smashed chairs and damaged equipment — an act which led to the management announcing a shut down.
12 party leaders were arrested in connection with vandalism, however, they were released on bail the next day. A case was also registered against Kamra for his remarks on the Deputy CM during the show.
Kamra said that he would not apologise for his comments and would only do so if asked by the court. He also reportedly told the police that he would adhere to the law.
