After doing alot of research around how to cheaply access land in the UK I seem to have come to a dead end. I've looked into one planet development, crofting and ecological land cooperative. Each has there own merits and drawbacks but they do not suit my desire to buy a smallish parcel (1-3 acres) and live on it using permaculture but not necessarily for a farming business.

I would like to hear people's stories who have successfully accessed land either from the UK or Europe.

What route did you take?

What is the general access to land like? (I know France has a long heritage of supporting it)

Is there any advice you would pass onto people starting this journey?
