Here we are on the 1st of March. Am I the only person who can't believe we're two months into 2021? That the covid-19 pandemic has been around for over a year? 

I'm always encouraged when February is behind us. Spring is coming. Truly, it is. Never mind we still have at least half a foot of snow on the ground, but the streets are clear. Thank you, snowplow drivers and our dear neighbor who keeps our driveway clear.

Instead of focusing on the negative, even though I started with covid, let's explore some fun facts about March. 

Did you know that March is named after the Roman god Mars? So is the planet Mars. Just 2 weeks ago, NASA's Rover Perseverance landed on Mars.

The birthstone for March is the aquamarine, which is supposed to protect sailors and guarantee a safe voyage. Guess I should wear aquamarine on my next cruise.

The birth flower (did you know there's such a thing) is the daffodil, which symbolize friendship. Here in Michigan, they are often the first flowers to bloom in the spring. Can't wait to see my daffodils come up. Here's a reminder from last year.

Juliette Gordon Low started Girl Scouts of the USA on March 12, 1912. That woman was ahead of her times. I'm proud to say I'm a lifetime Girl Scout. My daughter and two granddaughters are also Girl Scouts. Anyone need cookies?
