Residents Forced to Leave Japan's Oldest Student Dorm

OSAKA, Aug 26 (News On Japan) - Kyoto University has reached a settlement in its lawsuit seeking the handover of the aging Yoshida Dormitory, Japan's oldest student dormitory, under which residents will temporarily move out while the university promptly carries out seismic retrofitting.
Dormitory residents held a press conference on August 25th and said, "Bringing the lawsuit to a close is, in a sense, a positive aspect of the settlement," while urging the university to reopen talks on the dormitory’s future.
