Israel-Iran war: Congratulations World, it's time for peace, posts Trump

1. Iran targets US base in Qatar: Iran launched six missiles at US's Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, in retaliation to US strikes on its nuclear facilities. According to the Qatar Defence Ministry, all missiles were intercepted and no casualties were reported.
2. Qatar condemns attack: Qatar condemned the Iranian attack on US base in Doha, calling it a "violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace and the UN charter.” It also said it reserved its right to respond to the attack.
3. US, Qatar were warned prior to the attack: The New York Times has reported that Qatar was given a warning before the attack. Iran also issued a statement that their attack was not against "brotherly Qatar." Qatar, in its response, also called for the immediate cessation of hostilities. Reuters has confirmed that the Americans were also informed hours in advance. Speculation is now that if Iran is allowed this face-saver, the possibilities of de-escalation have brightened considerably.
3. Why Al Udeid Air Base: The target Iran chose to unload its six missiles on is an interesting one. The Al Udeid Air Base is in southwest Doha and located away from civilian centres and from key Qatari infrastructure. This translates to minimal possible disruption. An expert who knows the region rather well noted, "considering how short a distance the missiles had to travel from Iran, it now seems like both the US and Qatar had been given ample time to prepare and close the airspace to civilian aircraft and evacuate the base."
4. Saudi, UAE condemn attack: Saudi Arabia called Iran's retaliatory attacks on a US base in Qatar "unjustifiable," offering to deploy "all its capabilities" to support Doha, with whom it has had fraught relations in the past. UAE also condemned the attack in the "strongest terms."
5. Israel mulls ending attacks on Iran: Reuters has reported that Israel is looking to wrap up its attacks on Iran and has already informed its ally US of its plan.
