PM Modi In Bikaner: Nal Airbase's geographical position makes it crucial for operations along the western border.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Indian Air Force’s Nal Airbase in  Rajasthan’s Bikaner today. This marks his first visit to the state since Operation Sindoor and comes exactly one month after the terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

This comes after PM Modi visited the Adampur Airbase in Punjab where he interacted with air force personnel. The strategic visit directly refuted Pakistan’s false claims that its missiles had severely damaged the base and its S-400 air defense as pictures shared from PM Modi’s visit showed the S-400 system and MiG-29 jets in the background.

What Is Nal Airbase?

The Nal Airbase is a strategically significant Indian Air Force (IAF) base located in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Situated in the western sector of India, its geographical position makes it crucial for operations along the western border. The base plays a vital role in India’s air defense strategy, providing a forward operating location for various fighter aircraft and serving as a key point for surveillance and reconnaissance missions in the region.

Nal Airbase is home to several squadrons of the Indian Air Force, including frontline fighter jets like the Su-30MKI- known for their long-range capabilities and multi-role functions. The presence of such advanced aircraft underscores the base’s importance in projecting air power and maintaining aerial superiority.

Beyond its operational role, the airbase also serves as a training ground for pilots and technical personnel, contributing to the overall readiness and modernization of the IAF. Nal Airbase occasionally hosts joint exercises with air forces from friendly nations, further enhancing interoperability and fostering international defense cooperation.
