UP Businessman Arrested Over Suspected Espionage, Links With Pakistan's ISI

The man has been identified as Shahzad
A man from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad has been arrested for allegedly being an agent of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.
Identified as Shahzad, the man was held following inputs about his alleged involvement in cross-border smuggling and espionage activities for the ISI.

According to the STF, he was also passing sensitive information related to national security to his handlers.
STF has alleged that Shahzad visited Pakistan many times over the years and was allegedly smuggling cosmetics, clothes, spices, and other items across the border.
Shahzad has been under sections, including espionage-related provisions, at the STF Police Station in Lucknow, according to an official statement by STF.
Meanwhile, speaking to News 18, Shehzad’s wife, Raziya, admitted that he had travelled to Pakistan on multiple occasions; however, she also added that the visit was to procure fabric for ladies’ suits.
According to Raziya, her husband, Shahzad, had visited Lahore several times.
Shahzad has close contacts with ISI agents and remains in constant communication with them. He shared sensitive and confidential information related to India’s security with ISI agents, said the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
On confirmation about his links to ISI, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under sections 148 and 152 at ATS, Lucknow, and Shahzad was arrested from Moradabad.
Shahzad is the latest individual to be arrested in connection with spying for Pakistan.
Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, several arrests have been made in connection to the case.
From locals to YouTubers, officials have held many individualss, including a woman, for spying for Pakistan.
